The Scentoral map page has been getting a fair bit of attention. When it was completed, I created a talk page for it HERE and some members of the UD community have been asking questions and helping me hammer out any glitches. Feel free to contribute to either page as you all see fit.

I have been noticing new people updating the ZALP images so I took a moment to devise a thank you letter that can be posted to their talk pages. You can find it HERE. The text is adapted from a World Wildlife Federation donor sheet.

Nice!! ;D That's a new twist on the 'cookie' idea. Maybe it will encourage some to try to 'collect' such an accolade.

Incentive...that is an interesting idea. Perhaps we could come up with a ranking system for scan reports similar to a donor ranking system like that used by wildlife organizations. Partner in Conservation could be an upper rank but there would have to be others. The "winner" system is a big part of how Necrowatch recruits. We might benefit form a similar accolade. Ideas or thoughts on ranking designations?

Ya that's kinda interesting.
Not much of a creative writer myself but what about a hierarchy such as: "Friend of the Society" for contributing < 10 posts --> "Sustaining Doner" < 50 posts --> "Partner in Conservation" < 100; this level could be reached in 1 month by posting 4 pics a day but realistically we'd probably only hope a random player to go out of their way to the correct scenting points, when a zombie, about twice/month if that. I would think that Survivors who temporarily become zeds would be the biggest audience for this as they would be looking to do something useful for the Survivor cause when dead. I would think that typical zeds players wouldn't be contributing because 'conservation' runs counter to their main raison d'etre: eating people.
Then perhaps make the upper level accolades only attainable by semi-dedicated zeds who actually work towards such a goal: "Harmanz Lover" for contributing 100-200 pics --> "Board of Directors, Harmanz Conservation Society" for 200-800 pics --> "Charmain of the Board, Harmanz Conservation Society" >800 pics posted. Could also use the standard 'silver, gold, platinum' distinctions as well but they aren't very 'creative' titles

Alright. how about this Introductory level Contributor=1-24 Silver level (designated by 1 or two silver pins w/ ZALP logo) Friend of ZALP=25-49 Harman lover=50-99 Gold Level (designated by 1 or two gold pins w/ ZALP logo) Sustaining Donor=100-149 Partner in Conservation=150+ Platinum level Esteemed benefactor=250+ (designated by a platinum pin with a different symbol) Board of Directors=500+ (designated by a special spam template) Picture of proposed ranking pins may be found HERETemplate to follow. The possibility exists to add another ranking at Diamond level as well. Thoughts?

Added a table right below the ranks. The numbers and images contained are for test purposes only.

Looks interesting although I hesitate about some of the wording. The "Friend of ZALP" for example; that might be a turn off actually, maybe some people like the idea of contributing towards the 'greater good', the 'conservation' theme but then tying that idea directly to ZALP association... Maybe people don't want to be associated with ZALP per se but like the humorousLooks interesting although I hesitate about some of the wording. I see that you made the accolade pins about ZALP - cool pin! But...again I'm wondering if people would be put off by being directly associated with ZALP instead of this general 'conservation' idea, that's perhaps instead 'sponsored' by ZALP,
Now that I think about it, I'm also wondering how the 'multi-pin' idea would technically work: where are you supposed to put these 'pins?' If you've managed to collect 5 of them would they appear under you Avater? on you Wiki home page? Most players put pins and ribbons in their signature line on Forums - 3-4 ZALP pins would take up A LOT of space in their signature line, in addition to their other accolades, and as such might not be used. What about a single pin to represent each level? That might encourage players to display them if they were small enough and easy to insert.
Or did you envison such accolades being displayed somewhere else - perhaps a 'Doner Wall' on the Scent Map page. A way of saying 'thanks' to players who took the time to contribute - just listing their name under one of the categories or listing their accumuilated pins after their name, with names in alphabetical order.
Man that's a lot of work....

Looks interesting although I hesitate about some of the wording. The "Friend of ZALP" for example; that might be a turn off actually, maybe some people like the idea of contributing towards the 'greater good', Good point. I am also hesitant about the "Harman Lover" level as well since some contributors may be boastful zombies. How about "Friend in the Field" and "Helping Hand"? If we do incorporate a diamond level, I was thinking 810+ scans which would be the equivalent of 10 scans from each scan site. I don't think this will be a problem. Most wildlife organizations provide material with their log like the WWF panda. With the handshake logo, it is even better as it is like us extending a personal thank you for the cooperation. The pins I made were intended for a donor wall like the one below the rankings. I envisioned this as a separate wiki page linked to both the map and the main page. If someone wanted to use them in a signature, they still could if they set the images to the desired size. While the pins are primarily for the wall, the template that I have not made yet could be posted to their wiki user account and would have a variable for their donor level that would display a small picture. If anyone wants to try to come up with said picture or alternative images of any type, have at it. With such a template, if we ever decide to incorporate specific accomplishments (scan areas, patterns, specific objectives, etc), they could be added as additional variables without too much trouble. Not as much as it looks like. I stole and adapted a bunch of code from elsewhere. ;D The real work will be adding up the scan image numbers from the 81 locations for the initial numbers to go on the donor wall when it is posted.

Hey Albert
Ok I'm followin' ya - pins for Doner Wall, cool; maybe work on some of those names more (Harman lover ,etc), sure. As for counting totals - there are basically 9 'quadrant's each having 9 sections. We can divide up the quadrants then check the 'history' page on each section which list a) who posted pics on the page and b) how many times. Ya it's a bit of leg work but it's one way to add up how many times someone has contributed and who. you could also turn on the 'watch' section (??) would that be helpful?

Just added them up. I have had them on watch since the first upload. It was a bit of legwork but not too bad. The numbers have been uploaded to the members page. Amilius and I are on the second gold level and solo is on the first silver. I posted things as they stand but we can always change names and adjust things as needed.

I sifted through and determined that I had taken credit for some of Solo's CptFastbreak's, and CreakyPreacher's scans because I was the one who uploaded them. I have corrected. Accurate numbers are now HERE. Current through the ones Amilius and I just posted.

Scan numbers on the Donor Board are now up to date. Amilius leads by several scans. It looks like I have some catching up to do.

I do not know if anyone else has noticed, but the link to the mass contacts script used on our contact and area resource databases has been dead for some time. Babs from SDN was kind enough to direct me to an alternate site HERE. If I find that this site is more or less permanent, I will provide the second link on the wiki as well.

ZALP has gotten some press on the Malton Murder Awards page . By the way, nominations are still ongoing if anyone cares to participate or second a nomination for anyone you know *wink wink*. I have also worked us into The life cultist page. I felt it was about time this happened.

How does this look to people for an entry in the SDN wiki page? I tried to adopt the general style of the page that includes text from the rampaging core in red struck and text from technicians in blue.
Z.A.L.P. is Malton’s only organized and dedicated life cultist group, Finally, some hot zombie on zombie action! composed of “evolved” zombies more durable than the meatbags maybe but not as sexy as shiny steel. I guess they do move a bit like machines... shut up core! Who asked you! who work towards the advancement of the city’s survivor population. Originally tasked with Harman habitat creation and maintenance, Z.A.L.P.’s goals were in line with SDN’s survivor resource management mandate. They now fight alongside the machines to prove that, with a little resource management, zombies, survivors, and robots can function as part of the same ecosystem. Sounds like hippy nonsense to me I’ll show you hippy nonsense core! Now where was that high window? *a zombie smashes at the mainframe hardware*

Hey Albert
I get the jab at the evolution/intelligent design quip but you might want to change that as it may be offensive to some viewers and be a turn off.... After all, ZALP is not really about 'science' in the same way as Dr Schwan's R&D theme is. What about a reference to the perfectly 'robotic-like' movement/activity of zombies - but of a 'less-durable' grade.

Edited the original post? The intelligent design quip was removed. Any other thoughts?
